Preanesthetic
Electrocardiograms
This goes hand in hand with the preanesthetic laboratory testing. Again, some
information can be derived from a physical examination of a pet, but the electrocardiogram
is far more accurate at assessing the rate and rhythm of a pet's heart. Our ECG's
are transmitted over the telephone to a cardiologist in New York who assesses the pet's
ECG and then let's us know if they are suitable for anesthetic. Again, if
abnormalities are detected, a procedure may be postponed or even cancelled. This is
another valuable service offered to pet owners.
