Cheryl Smith is an internationally recognized educator & dog-training expert. She is the owner and director of Forever Friends Dog Training Center & Urika Consultants located in Ottawa, ON. Cheryl practices her expertise using positive reinforcement through humane and effective techniques.

 

Not only is she a wonderful educator she also serves as a recognized expert on aggression issues in Canadian courts. Cheryl is a charter member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and has spoken at three of their conferences.  For the past 14 years she has conducted many workshops and seminars across Canada & the USA.

 

Cheryl Smith is the author of Biting, Barking, Lunging, Growling – retraining an anxious fearful dog without intimidation. She is also the first person to teach a “Growl Class”, which not only builds the dog’s confidence but the owner’s as well. She provides an effective solution for “growly” dogs that have never harmed another dog in a safe, pleasant environment. Dogs may eventually resume socialization and play through these classes.

 

SEMINAR SUMMARY
Through lectures, video and demonstrations, Cheryl will help us better understand canine behaviour.  Using effective, relationship enhancing techniques we will learn how to retrain appropriate skills while reducing stress, eliminating conflict and avoiding triggering aggressive responses.  Training exercises will help establish a harmonious relationship without confrontation, allowing your dog to 'relearn' how to withdraw from a conflict without escalating the situation.

This seminar is suitable for all professionals who work with dogs including dog trainers, veterinarians, vet techs, dog groomers, dog care providers, breeders, rescue workers, Animal Services/shelter employees, Dog show handlers as well as pet owners.
